Fairhaven Residence
Project Context
Fairhaven Residence emerges as a quiet architectural gesture within its dramatic setting. Designed as a recessive form carved from the landscape, the home prioritises protection, privacy, and outlook. A collaboration between LTD Architectural Design Studio and DOOD Studio, the project reimagines a former dwelling into a refined sanctuary shaped by light, views, and material expression.
Why UniCote® LUX Was Selected
The architects sought the rich tonal variation associated with corten steel, but without the mess, maintenance, and long-term uncertainty. Corten Red from the UniCote® LUX Signature Range offers the same visual warmth from day one, avoiding the streaking, patchy oxidation, and surrounding material staining that often accompanies traditional corten installations.
Performance Advantages
As a pre-painted architectural steel, UniCote® LUX Corten Red delivers predictable performance over time. There is no active corrosion process, no colour drift, and no dependency on environmental exposure to “complete” the finish. This allows the building’s appearance to remain intentional, controlled, and true to the original design vision.
Colour, Finish & Architectural Outcome
The corten-inspired finish grounds the home visually, reinforcing its connection to the earth. Standing seam cladding introduces rhythm and refinement, balancing rawness with precision. The result is a building that feels both rugged and resolved.
Summary
Corten Red from the UniCote® LUX Signature Range gives architects the freedom to specify a corten aesthetic without surrendering control, consistency, or longevity.
